Biking safari from Kigali to Gisovu plantation

At your arrival at Kigali international Airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will drive you to your hotel to rest. There are flights arriving all the day and with most European flights arriving in the evening. For those ones who arrive early in the morning Marriott hotel is in the center of Kigali city whereby you can easily explore the city. Dinner and overnight at Marriott hotel.

You will be picked from your hotel in Kigali at 8:00 am after finishing your breakfast and the guide will give you a short briefing about your Kigali city tour, and start with a visit to the sobering Kigali Genocide Memorial. Kigali Genocide Memorial site in Gisozi, a place of remembrance and learning, and to honor victims of genocide against the Tutsi and ensure that it never happens again. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi. Here you will be able to visit the three permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. You will visit Kimironko market to buy some souvenirs and also interact with the locals, Visit Nymata genocide memorials and later in the evening, you will hit some night clubs to get an experience of Kigali night life. After the city tour, we shall have a happy hour whereby we shall discuss the current and following day’s events over a drink and a light snack and then drive to Marriott hotel for dinner and overnight.

After having your morning breakfast, our guide will drive you to Gisenyi which is located in the northern part of Rwanda and the journey takes about 2-3 hours and you will have a lot of photo opportunities along the way. You will have lunch at the lake side at La Brasserie hotel in Gisenyi. After lunch, you will test your bike if its comfortable for the ride having a ride around Rubona village while checking the bike to see if it’s having a mechanical problem before Wednesday morning which is our starting day for our bike tour. After having your morning breakfast, you will start your journey leaving Gisenyi riding-off along the Congo Nile trail. You will have your lunch at the lake side fishing village of N’kora where you find a prepared fish lunch and after lunch, you will pedal through Rwandans picturesque countryside onto Kinunu. After the journey, you will have a together meal or dinner before retiring to bed discussing about the day’s journey and talking about the following day’s events. After having your morning breakfast, you will have a guided tour of the coffee washing station and today’s journey is a little bite challenging because it includes some of tough uphill climbs but this is one of most scenic rides in the whole Rwanda. Before having your lunch, you will load your bike on a boat which will take you to Nyamunini Island. Here, you will have a chance to see a large colony of straw colored fruit bats. You will have your lunch on the Island and then after navigate around the Island while seeing different types of bird species. After that, you will take a boat back to the lake shores to head to your lake side hotel for dinner and overnight at Moriah Hills hotel.

After having your morning breakfast, you will start your journey by cycling mainly uphill towards mountain Karongi which is the highest peak in the region. The cycling will be challenging but rewarding because of the amazing views. After having your lunch, you will ride downhill back to Kibuye with plenty of amazing views of the lake Kivu and the Islands along the way. Dinner and overnight at Moriah hills hotel.

After having your morning breakfast, you will ride-off along the Congo Nile trail to Mugonero heading towards children’s village where lunch will be served. After having lunch, you will have a guided tour teaching you about the life of Esperance. Your dinner will be prepared by fresh produced food by Esperance children’s village. After having your morning breakfast, you will ride-off uphill heading to Gisovu tea plantation and a long your way you will pass by Bisesero Genocide memorial which is option to visit. You will continue climbing up to Gisovu tea plantation on the edge of Nyungwe forest. Keep it in mind all that uphill climbing, it will be a downhill all the way to Esperance. Lunch will be served at pique-nique during the ride. Dinner and overnight at Esperance children’s village.

After having your morning breakfast, you will pack your bags, put the bikes on the truck and start the journey back to Kigali. You will have a farewell lunch together and transfer you to the airport to take your flight back home to meet your family.
