Day 1: From Moshi to Londorosi

Day 1: From Moshi to Londorosi

Mti Mkubwa camp

After having your early morning breakfast, our driver guide will pick you at park view hotel and then drive you to Londorosi gate where you will register for the park entry and then drive towards Lemosho which is about 1 hour to reach at Lemosho trail head. After reaching, you will rest while having your lunch and then after you will start 3-4 trek through the forest to the camp. You will have dinner and overnight at Myi Mkubwa camp.

Day 2: From Forest Camp to Shira Camp

Day 2: From Forest Camp to Shira Camp

Budget camping

You will start your day 2 after having your breakfast and you will start hiking from forest camp to Shira camp 1. You will continue with your trail moving out of the forest into a Savannah tall grasses onto volcanic rocks which are draped with lichen beards. While you are ascending through these rolling hills and crossing many several streams, you will reach at the shira Ridge before dropping down to shira camp 1. After reaching at shira camp 1, the view of Kibo is across the plateau very beautiful and amazing.

Day 3: From Shira Camp 1 to Fischer’s Camp

After having your early morning breakfast, you will embark on a full day exploration of the shira plateau. You will trek east towards Kibo’s glacier peak and you will have an option to visit the ancient collapsed shira one which is the oldest of mountain Kilimanjaro 3 volcanoes. After reaching at Fischer’s camp, you will have dinner and you will stay here for the overnight.

Day 4: From Fischer’s Camp to Barranco Camp

Barranco camp

After having your breakfast, you will continue with your trek upward and you will walk for about 4 hours towards an expensive Ridge lines of the highest desert to Lava tower where you will rest while having your lunch. In the afternoon, you will descend to the steep trek into the great Barranco valley. Barranco camp is set on a valley enclosed on 3 sides with the massive valley walls and Kibo massif itself. These hanging glaciers can be seen glistening above among a landscape of fascinating plants.

Day 5: From Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Karanga camp

After having your breakfast, you will continue with the trek from Barranco camp to Karanga camp. Note that this is a short day trek but it is very important for the acclimatization. You will trek a steep Barranco wall and after that, then traversing up and down the slopes of valleys which have carved their way into the mountain’s southern face. The Kibo’s glaciers are above on your left while the peak of Mawenzi jut into the sky straight ahead.

Day 6: From Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 6: From Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Barafu camp

After having an early morning breakfast, you will walk towards the steadily uphill. Note that today’s trek is difficult but very important because the temperature is cold and the landscape is sparse. Barafu camp is set on a small exposed flat area on a Ridge which acts as a base camp where you will start your trek to the summit at evening and retire very early in the preparation for the midnight trek to the summit.

Day 7: From Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Day 7: From Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Barafu camp

After having your early morning breakfast, you will continue with your way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You will be heading in the northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella point on the crater rim. At this point, it is more mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. After reaching at Stella point which is 18,600ft and you will stop for a rest while being rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. From Stella point, you may encounter snow all the way and here it is only 1 hour to reach to the summit. After reaching at Uhuru peak, you will have reached the highest point of mountain Kilimanjaro and then after take some pictures and videos. You will start your journey descending straight down to the Mweka hut campsite and you will have your lunch at Barafu camp. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. In the evening, you will have dinner and later sleep.

Day 8: From Mweka Camp to Moshi

After having your breakfast, you will continue descending down to Mweka park gate to receive your summit certificates. Remember this, at lower elevation it can be wet and muddy so, gaiters and the trekking poles will help you and also remember to put on shorts and T-shirts for the mud and keep your rain gear and warmer clothes handy. From the gate, you will continue with another walk to Mweka village where you will meet the vehicle to drive you at your hotel for resting and relaxing. Later in the evening, our driver guide will pick you at your hotel and then drive you to the airport to take your flight back home.
